We are a local nonprofit organization. Despite setbacks from the COVID pandemic, we recently opened our recovery club in the local area for those in drug and alcohol recovery. Our purpose is to prevent relapse and give individuals a place to go to rebuild a sense of social “normalcy”. Our focus has been to provide opportunities for people in recovery to gather in “no pressure” social environments, to provide people in recovery a chance to give back to their community through volunteerism, and to provide awareness and resources for maintaining sobriety.
Our vision is to expand our mission beyond individuals in recovery, and to offer support to those affected by drug and alcohol abuse. Our ultimate goal is to develop a comprehensive schedule of support groups, to be an advocate in starting an individual on the path to recovery, and to help any member of our community find a way to give something back to the place they call home.
Oasis currently has meetings happening everyday of the week. Groups for Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, SMART Recovery, Naranon, and Family Mentorship. Beginning in September, Oasis will have a certified recovery specialist on site four days a week during the afternoon. Meeting schedules and notices are updated as often as possible. Check the calendar for days and times of group meetings and CRS availability.
Oasis holds a variety of events that are open to the public like game nights, family intervention and growth, alternative healing and growth, holiday specific events, special promotional events, and our own Spotlight Speaker series. Oasis does not charge admission for any events held at the club (excluding our annual walk), although for some events we may ask you bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to a local food pantry. Check the calendar for days and times of events.
Volunteers & Community Service
Oasis is a completely non-profit club, so we are always looking for volunteers to help with facilities and during events. When opportunities arise, Oasis does community service projects in the Shamokin area. Our group has helped with maintenance and beautification projects in downtown Shamokin. We can work with any member of the public who wishes to fulfill community service requirements or who just feels the need to dig in and help their community.
